The South Deep Gold Mine, under the Gold Fields company, is offering aspiring Employees and or prospective Applicants from within the Host Communities interested in pursuing a career in engineering the opportunity to enter into a formal Engineering Learnership programme.

Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 with Maths and Science
- Have full N2 qualifications in 4 subjects, i.e., Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, N2 Rigging Trade theory, and Engineering Drawing
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre, and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment
Duties and Responsibilities
- Undergoing technical training as prescribed by MQA and short courses as required by the mine during the Learnership. Maintain consistent performance
- Initiating developmental discussions
- Seeking feedback
- Adhering to the company’s conditions of employment, policies and code of conduct
- Abiding by all health and safety rules/regulations applicable on the mine
- Promoting teamwork and being an effective team member
- Wearing all the prescribed personal protective equipment (PPE) while on mine/ at the training centre
- Abiding by the values of South Deep Gold Mine, i.e., safety, integrity, respect, responsibility, innovation, and collaborative delivery
