Hollard is Hiring a Tax Consultant. The Tax Consultant will be a member of the Group Tax team and will be responsible for ongoing corporate income tax and withholding tax compliance matters, tax reporting, ad hoc consulting and projects, business support, and liaison with the Internal Revenue Service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparing and submitting company tax returns (Corporate income tax and Withholding Taxes) by prescribed rates, laws, and regulations for short-term and long-term insurance companies and group companies.
- Ensure payments to SARS within deadlines to avoid interest and penalty charges.
- Examining accounts and financial records and computing taxes owed.
- Ensuring that the short-term and long-term insurance companies and group companies comply with periodic tax payments, tax reporting, and other tax authority requirements.
- Preparation of monthly tax calculations by prescribed rates, laws, and regulations (including current and deferred tax computations).
- Preparation of financial year-end tax computations by prescribed rates, laws, and regulations (including current and deferred tax computations).
- Preparation of the Group Consolidation taxation note for annual financial statements purposes.
Liaising with internal and external auditors. - Preparing responses to queries, requests for information, and audits of the South African Revenue Services and attending to these professionally and on time to ensure all group companies are not unduly exposed to tax risk.
- Conducting tax research on tax amendments to ensure the group complies with applicable tax legislation and regulations.
- Preparation of tax research for special projects and assignments to ensure decisions are made based on consistent and reliable information.
- Assist in the preparation of the quarterly Tax Committee pack.
Required Knowledge and Experience
- At least 2 years’ experience.
- Knowledge of the insurance industry and relationships with key stakeholders (e.g. SARS, National Treasury) in general and in the short-term and long-term insurance industries specifically, would be advantageous.

Educational Requirements
- BCom Taxation / Accounting.
- Honors in Taxation an advantage.
